Sponsorship Survey Published

The IFM group of companies (IFM Sports Marketing Surveys, S:Comm and IFM-Sports) have released the findings of a new survey about the health of the sponsorship industry.

In undertaking this work, IFM issued a questionnaire covering many topics to key contacts around the world. Each of its 20 offices distributed the survey by e-mail, and invited people to contribute. In addition the survey was also on IFM Sports Marketing Surveys’ website for visitors to complete.

Sponsorship industry predicts positive growth by end of the year!

According to a the latest results from the IFM Sports Marketing Surveys sponsorship business survey, two thirds of business leaders see a settling down period over the next few months with 20% looking at growth on the horizon towards the end of the year. This is set against a backdrop of an expected decline of an average 8% on sponsorship revenues in 2009.

Wilson wins over Wimbledon pros

Rackets by manufacturer Wilson were chosen by over a third of all competitors, according to research by IFM Sports Marketing Surveys at the 2009 Wimbledon Championships.

IFM Sports Marketing Surveys’ 25th racket, clothing and equipment census showed that Wilson rackets were used by the men’s champion Roger Federer, and women’s champion Serena Williams. The company’s rackets were seen on the Centre Court and Court Number One for nearly 130 hours during the two-week championships.

NIKE AND ADIDAS BATTLE ON AT WIMBLEDON 2009

IFM Sports Marketing Surveys has completed the 25th official Racket, Clothing and Equipment Census at the 2009 Wimbledon Championships.

A difference of only 5 players separates Nike and adidas in the shoe count this year, with Lotto and Fila coming in third and fourth position. The record-breaking 77-game Men’s Singles final was contested by Roger Federer’s Nike shoes and Andy Roddick’s Babolats for 4 hours and 16 minutes.

Ryder Cup Will Bring ‘Inestimable’ Benefits to Welsh Town

The 2010 Ryder Cup, the biennial team golf competition between Europe and USA, which will be hosted next year by Newport Wales, could benefit the area by £67 million ($93.8 million), according to new analysis.

ADULT UK GOLF PARTICIPATION HOVERS AROUND 4,000,000

The number of golfers in Great Britain who play on a full length course remains just under the 4 million mark. This figure is supplemented by recreational golfers who do not play at full length courses, pushing the total number of adults in Great Britain who play some form of golf to just over 4 million. This equates to a participation rate of approximately 8% of the adult population.
